Skins
The first two series of Skins are the only videos I have on my computer so I found myself watching it a lot recently. Skins has been hyped everywhere so, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years, I supposed you’ve heard of it before. It’s about a group of British teenagers who are going to school in the morning, are having secret affairs with their teachers, partying a lot, listening to good music, drinking, taking drugs, making out and doing other things teenagers are supposed to do.
I love it. I just hate every single character. I think it might even be the whole concept of the series: maybe we were never supposed to like them - we just keep watching and watchting and watching and just can’t help but adopt those kids with their amusing silliness and their annoying omnipresence.

i cant even describe how much ive been crying over them already. but oh dear, coincidence much, ive recently started watching them again aswell.

Good decision! I’ve started a blog myself but it really hasn’t come to shape yet.
I started watching Skins (season 1) a few months ago and now I don’t really want to see the others, because they all have different characters, right? I can’t believe you hate them :D Chris and Angie are my favcourite love story, wrong but so sweet!
When are you coming to LC this year? I’m only going April 30th…

Season 1 and 2 have the same characters, in season 3 there’s only Effy (Tony’s sister) left… I even read they’re going to change the whole cast again for season 4.
And it’s true! I really don’t like anyone of them. Still I keep loving and watching it…
&Yesss, I am! I will definitely be there on friday and saturday, not so sure about the 30th yet. Would be really cool though. We haven’t seen eachother in aaaages!

Ich hab jetzt mal die ersten 3 1/2 Folgen geschaut und irgendwie ein gemischtes Verhältnis. Auf der einen Seite liebe ich den Accent, die Kostüme und es macht mich furchtbar krank vor Nostalgie und Heimweh, weil so vieles an Irland erinnert (selbst die Klospülungen & Türknäufe), auf der anderen Seite kann ich mich ebenfalls mit fast keinem Charakter anfreunden und manchmal frage ich mich echt, was denn bitte die Zielgruppe sein soll, weil es eher eine Milieustudie über kaputte Familien & Folgen dieser ist und ich viele Probleme eher traurig/beängstigend als lustig/cool finde (das Magersucht-Ding ist ja irgendwie auf so einem schmalen Grad zwischen Überzogenheit und Albtraum)
Zudem überrascht es mich kaum, dass laut Wikipedia ein paar britische Jugendliche danach erstmal ein paar hauszerschrottende Parties geschmissen haben.
@ Nina: Ja, ich weiß genau was du meinst. Wie gesagt, ich mag die Serie echt gern, aber ich würde sagen das is so eine Art Hassliebe bei mir. Vielleicht liegt die Zielgruppe durchaus bei durchschnittlichen britischen Teenagern unter 18, die sich je nach ihrem Hintergrund mit einem der Charaktere identifizieren und die Partykultur bzw. den Zusammenhalt der Gruppe toll finden.
Und nicht vergessen sollte man auch die popkulturelle Vermarktung des Ganzen. Es wird viel moderne (Indie-)Musik gespielt und die Charaktere lebten auch noch außerhalb der Serie weiter und waren auch desöfteren im NME. (Ich habe mich da immer gewundert, warum der NME ständig über Skins und das Leben der Darsteller berichtet und auch bei Parties etc. außerhalb der Serie stets die Rede von “Tony” war und nicht von Nicholas Hoult.)
Und das mit den Parties hab ich grad mal nachgelesen, das ist ja schon krass was da passiert ist… aber wie gesagt, scheinbar müssen da schon einige junge Leute dem ganzen nacheifern…
