My friend Paul made this amazing video about his time in Berlin. I’m gonna miss him! That’s always been the sad part of this city, people are coming over all the time from all over the world but of course they’re all leaving again at some point. Anyway, check out his views of Berlin!
Today I finally found an online stream of an amazing documentary I saw on TV about a year ago. One of the best and most fascinating documentaries about the universe I have seen so far. Watching it doesn’t only make you feel incredibly small, it also makes you realise all the silly and trivial things we worry about when there’s so much stuff going on out there. Crazy and unreal but totally worth watching (even if you don’t speak German, the pictures are amazing, too). Yes, I admit it, call me a hipster but I do reblog orion nebula photos on Tumblr and I am absolutely fascinated by the beauty of the universe and all the mysteries behind it.
I re-watched this film the other night. I like it although it leaves out the whole background of the story and only focuses on drugs, desperation and David Bowie (which is not a bad combination either).

I watched Trainspotting* again the other night and having a friend reading out my “Choose life” poster in Scottish accent this morning made me want to re-read Irvine Welsh (which I’m going to do tonight).

* I think Trainspotting might be one of my all time favourite movies but it doesn’t really mean much considering I’ve maybe watched about 100 films in my life and only own 5 DVDs that aren’t even originals. I do like films but I’m usually too lazy and never focused enough to watch them. Over time, I’ve become pretty good at playing the movie retard and pissing film experts off by saying things like “Well, to be honest I think Tarantino is quite overrated.” or laughing all along during horror movies.
I absolutely love Disney. There’s nothing better than being in bed late at night watching old Disney classics. I already wrote about this before, my favourite animated Disney movie was “Robin Hood”. I wanted to be brave like Robin and charming like Maid Marian.
“Are we good guys or bad guys? You know. I mean, uh, our robbin’ the rich to feed the poor.” – “Rob? That’s a naughty word. We never rob. We just… sort of borrow a bit from those who can afford it.”

What’s your favourite Disney movie? If you haven’t watched it in a long time, go do it! It’s so worth it!
Rest in peace, Ian Curtis.
In the early hours of 18 May 1980, Curtis hanged himself in the kitchen of his house in Macclesfield. He had just viewed Werner Herzog’s film Stroszek and listened to Iggy Pop’s The Idiot. At the time of his death, his health was failing as a result of the epilepsy and attempting to balance his musical ambitions with his marriage, which was foundering in the aftermath of his affair with journalist Annik Honoré. His wife found his body the next morning.

Just saw this on Arte and thought it was pretty amazing.
The short is loosely based on events from high school suburban life. A love obsession, the whirlwind events of a night fueled by drugs and alcohol, and the subsequent loss of innocence.

Arte +7 has the full film available online for 7 days (from today on). You can watch it here.

I loved the book when I was little. My mum used to read me from it, while I was looking at the amazing pictures. Apparently now there’s a film about it and the trailer looks amazing. I’m not so much into films, neither do I like screen adaptations of books but I think I’m going to watch this one. (Oh, and it only looks like Marcel beat me to posting this – I actually had this blog post finished this morning but I only just had the time to publish it.)

Franzi is writing her coursework about “The depiction of London and its cultural stereotypes in the British comedy series The Mighty Boosh” and beta-reading her analysis made me rediscover my love for this tv show. It’s such a genius, inspiring and colourful masterpiece with its very own humour and a cast of freaky, unique characters. I know every single episode by heart and I can sing along to every song.
“Picture this scene… you’re in the wilderness.” – “Where?” – “Miles from anywhere.” – “I’ve not ever really left Shoreditch…” – “You’ve come out of Hoxton Square, you turn left instead of right, you’ve gone down to that carpark behind the dragon bar…” – “Oh, it’s horrible round there… well crime watch.”

“This is black magic. This is hardcore. Don’t mess with the occult!” – “I thought it was good for you.” – “What?” – “Well, you know, good for your digestive system.” – “That’s Yakult!” – “Oh, yeah…”
The first two series of Skins are the only videos I have on my computer so I found myself watching it a lot recently. Skins has been hyped everywhere so, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years, I supposed you’ve heard of it before. It’s about a group of British teenagers who are going to school in the morning, are having secret affairs with their teachers, partying a lot, listening to good music, drinking, taking drugs, making out and doing other things teenagers are supposed to do.
I like it. I just hate every single character. I think it might even be the whole concept of the series: maybe we were never supposed to like them – we just keep watching and watchting and watching and just can’t help but adopt those kids with their amusing silliness and their annoying omnipresence.
